Self Help for Anxiety and Depression Requires a Little Tenacity

http://www.selfhelpfaqs.com/2008/March/Self-Help-for-Anxiety-and-Depression-Requires-a-Little-Tenacity.htm

<img title="Self Help for Anxiety and Depression" alt="self help for anxiety and depression" Help for Anxiety and Depression" src="http://login.wordpressors.com/Upload/selfhelpfaqs.com/Serenity.jpg" />Self help for anxiety and depression is often as simple as changing the parts of your life that are making you miserable. If you hate your job, look for a new career. If your relationship makes you sad more often that it brings you joy, talk to your partner and work together to make the relationship better. If that doesn’t work, end it. If you’re overweight, go on a diet and start exercising. If you’re sick of being in debt, stop using credit cards to make purchases.
People are too eager to see their doctors and ask for pills to make them feel better. Pills are often unnecessary. Self help for anxiety and depression comprises accepting those things you are powerless to change and having the tenacity to change what you can. It is fear of change that stops people making progress. We are afraid of what we don’t know. Yet change is both perfectly natural and inevitable. Self help for anxiety and depression means stopping the excuses and losing the victim mentality. If it hurts when you put your fingers in the fire, stop doing it, then it won’t be necessary to ask the doctor for pills to take the pain away.
Self help for anxiety and depression also involves accepting things you can't change. Sometimes feelings of depression come from having unrealistic expectations. You might wish your spouse was more demonstrative, for example. If your husband or wife is naturally quiet, there is nothing you can do to make them an extrovert, so accept them as they are, or move on. You should also avoid comparing yourself to others. I could measure myself against a Hollywood actress such as Keira Knightley, but that would be fruitless. I will never be twenty-three again. Nor will I ever be a size zero, unless I stop eating altogether.
Self help for anxiety and depression comprises making practical changes, but avoiding unrealistic goals and knowing your limitations.

Anxiety can be a crippling thing - believe me. Many people have it, and you don't have to feel like you are dying or wash your hands until the skin rubs off to have "anxiety issues." In fact, millions have it and are not even aware they do - so are unable to respond in a positive way like relaxing or dealing with it when it comes. They just get choked up and stuck.

That is why you need some anxiety self help tactics that work and that can last you your life.

With that said, though there are many anxiety self help methods out there, the most popular is controling your breathing and relaxing. Focus on breathing in for four counts and then breathe out for eight counts through your mouth. Imagine the air going through your nose and into your stomach, looping around and coming out your mouth. This is the essence of proper breathing and it will be your starting path onto more relaxation.

For more anxiety self help tactics, check out a meditation class or book today!

Alcoholism Self Help vs. Rehabilitation

http://www.selfhelpfaqs.com/2008/March/Alcoholism-Self-Help-vs-Rehabilitation.htm

Many people are having issues and are seeking the following, such as: depression self help, anxiety self help, both self help for anxiety and depression, or alcoholism self help.

However, many people have reasons why they do not want to visit a professional. It is important to visit a professional if someone is coping with any severe psychological problems or addictions. However, what if a person is only having mild bouts of psychological issues or non-life threatening addictions? Or what if this person feels like they can solve their own problems?

Whether professionals like it or not, there's always going to be a group of people who will seek to solve their own problems. There are also a group of people who feel as if they aren't dealing with severe, life threatening issues.

When a person is in either situation, it's important to at least consider self help. There are self help books, self help groups, or self help hypnosis. These are just a few options on ways to solve self help issues.

For example, if a person begins with alcoholism self help through joining a support group and surrounding themselves with books, this may be a great way to transform their motivation. However, if alcoholism self help is not enough, then it may be a wise choice to visit a rehabilitation facility and seek a professional.

This is just an example of alcoholism self help. In the end it's up to the individual and the loved ones that are effected by the issue or addiction.

It was a long trail, and I found that the self help hypnosis techniques I learned a few years ago to control my fear of heights helped me a lot in negotiating the steep grades and canyon walls that plunged straight down, with sharp spines on cacti ready to break my fall, should the worst happen. It was nine miles of rugged, anxiety producing, hiking, and we could not take many breaks in order to get out of their before dark.

Self help hypnosis is a good technique to have at your disposal for situations that create stress. Anxiety self help techniques are easy to learn, actually, and the comfort level that they will give you in situations where you feel absolutely no control or make you fearful can bring you through a tense situation intact. They are worth learning, and practicing.

There are a number of ways to approach your own self help for anxiety and depression that include herbal treatments, self talk, and hypnosis. Many people do not know that you can get self help hypnosis tools on the Internet, and if you are receptive to them, these sites can be really effective with depression self help. You can find these Internet sites, and bookmarking them. The sites are relatively stable, so if you find a session that relaxes you, then you can go back to it, again and again, in your quest to get self help for anxiety and depression.

The herbal remedies for these two conditions are also common on the Internet, if you do not have a health food store nearby. They include St. Johns wort, valerian, and ginseng. While these herbs may not have the same kinds of side effects that prescription drugs, they may interact with other drugs that you are taking, so before you start, make sure you research the herbal supplements carefully.

As a chronic anxiety sufferer, I can offer a few anxiety self help tips. Everyone is different. This said, methods that work well for someone else might not work well for you. Still, I've been able to control my anxiety with simple techniques, which may prove beneficial to you.

1. Stop Negative Thoughts: The biggest anxiety self help tip is to stop negative thinking. I always focus on the bad things in my life and ignore the good. Thus, I'll send myself into a state of worry. The mind is powerful. If you resolve to think happy thoughts and push out negative feelings, you'll feel better.

2. Stay Busy: Too much idle time can increase anxiety. When your mind isn't busy, you have too much available time to sit and worry. Staying busy is a great anxiety self help tip. Pick a new hobby, volunteer, read, or start a new project.

3. Mood Enhancers: Whether it's a natural supplement such as Happy Camper, or a prescribed medication such as Paxil or Zoloft, if the above anxiety self help tips provide little results, don't be afraid to take a mood enhancer.

Self Help Hypnosis to Quit Smoking

http://www.selfhelpfaqs.com/2008/March/Self-Help-Hypnosis-to-Quit-Smoking.htm

<IMG height=361 alt="self help hypnosis" Help Hypnosis" src="http://login.wordpressors.com/Upload/www.selfhelpfaqs.com/emphysema.gif" width=215>I smoked for many years .I was well aware of the terrible health risks associated with smoking. However, I didn't give up smoking until I was mentally prepared for it. In other words, I didn't quit until I sincerely wanted to. Once I had actually quit I had no desire to smoke again because I had made myself despise the idea of smoking and everything it entails.

If you want to quit smoking, you could try self help hypnosis. Using self help hypnosis to stop smoking helps your mind to associate smoking with negative subconscious pictures, so that you truly come to abhor the habit.

If you browse the Internet, you'll see that many hypnotists are available to help you with a self help hypnosis program. One hypnotist who can help you stop smoking is Daze Lizenkoff. Her stop smoking program includes three hypnosis sessions over the phone or in person, a subliminal CD, a booklet that teaches you how to calm your cravings, a self help hypnosis CD and a pet rock, which you squeeze every time you feel the urge to light up.

The price for Daze Lizenkoff's self help hypnosis hypnotherapy course is $180.00. This is less than the price of four cartons of cigarettes. Eventually, her self help hypnosis course will save you thousands of dollars on the price of cigarettes. It will also save you the cost of health care later in life for horrible smoking related diseases like lung cancer or emphysema.

Daze Lizenkoff also has self help hypnosis courses for other problems such as lack of self- esteem. Visit hypnoplace.com for more information.

Are you in the market for anxiety self help, or any other kind of self help information or material? If you are, the Internet is your new gold mine. The web is host to hundreds of self help sites and connections, ones that include pit stops for anxiety self help, depression self help, alcoholism self help, and even self help hypnosis. But the previous list is by no means exhaustive when it comes to online self help. There are many other sites as well. Sites on relationship self help, car repair self help, study self help, and even computer self help. One of the easiest ways to find out what's out there is to google the key words with self help faqs in the search block. So, if you wanted self help for anxiety you'd type in "anxiety self help faqs" or just "anxiety self help" and then it would be a simple matter of quickly perusing the site titles to see if anything interests you. In fact you may investigate a site and find an excellent link to other more helpful sites. And if you don't want to pay for the self help be sure to include "free" in your search. All the best--the self help online world awaits.

Have you ever tried self help hypnosis?

Self help hypnosis is an excellent way for some to relax and accept positive suggestions that would theoretically remain with a person long after the hypnosis. The more frequently you listen to a self help hypnosis tape, the more effective it becomes. Self hep hypnosis is typically in the form of an audio which can be found digitally, in a CD form or tape form.

Self help hypnosis is tool as purely depression self help, purely anxiety self help, or for the person that is battling both self help for anxiety and depression. As for addictions, such as alcoholism self help, it may be a good idea to supplement self help hypnosis with other treatments, such as a self help group.

Which self help audio is right for you? Do research on the hypnotist before purchasing a self help hypnosis audio and see if they graduated from a legitimate school in hypnotism. Glenn Harrold is an excellent self help hypnotist that I have personally used and I highly recommend.

Self help hypnosis is great for gradual change. It's also a nice way to practice the art of relaxation which could prove useful for those who are suffering from anxiety and depression.

Anxiety Self Help for Everyone?

Having had problems with anxiety myself, I know it can be a real annoying thing to control. Anxiety isn't always about panic attacks though. Most people are anxious and stressed out and don't even know they have an anxiety problem. Eating disorders, unhealthy obsessions - it doesn't even have to be that extreme. I guarantee that we all have something we can dig into a little deeper and find an anxious issue with.

So, whatever your problems - here is some anxiety self help for your worries.

Anxiety Self Help Tips

One thing that's important is to have a method to relax. You will never get rid of stress in your life because it is not something you control. What you do control, however, is how you respond to stress. It's like building a boat - you don't try to make the water different, you make the boat more sail-able.

A way you can have good results in your relaxation methods is to be aware of your body. Breathe in, focus on relaxing the muscles in your back and spine, let it all just come out. Whatever picture in your head helps you - that's the one you keep.

Of all anxiety self help ideas - start reading books. Reading books on self-help and discovery has really helped me out. Check them out at the library - it's free!

Have you ever suffered from anxiety? I have, so I know how terrible it makes you feel. Anxiety is problem common to those of us who tend to over-analyze things. Numerous things including stress at work, low self -esteem, financial problems, relationship troubles and bereavement, can cause it. Anxiety can cause palpitations, insomnia, an upset stomach and difficulty breathing. I sometimes suffer from night time anxiety when I'm worried about something. It can make it impossible to shut my mind off and go to sleep. There have been times when I have cried after becoming overwhelmed by feelings of frustration.

Fortunately, anxiety self help is possible. You can find anxiety self help tips all over the Internet. I would like to share some anxiety self help tips with you. First, make sure you are physically active enough during the day. I purchased a step machine for the purpose of releasing excess energy. Your mind will switch itself off more readily if your body is truly tired when you go to bed. My second anxiety self help tip is to avoid procrastination. Worrying about the things you have to do but haven't done yet can drive you nuts. My third anxiety self help tip is to try to ignore the thoughts that are stressing you out. Don't try to fight the anxious thoughts but at the same time don't indulge them. Let the anxious thoughts glide and after a time they tend to go away.

Some people swear by self help hypnosis. They claim it has helped them with everything from weight loss to phobias. I have never really taken it all that serious but I use something similar to it to help me relax and sleep when I'm going through a sleepless stage. I was doing a search for some self help hypnosis tips and found lots of sites with advise. You can buy CD's and books online that claim to be able to treat your various problems with self help hypnosis. One of the sites I found said that you only need a private quiet area and a place to sit or lay down to do self help hypnosis. You relax yourself as much as possible without falling to sleep. I found that counting down from 100 has helped me and they advise it as well. I think it just helps you focus on relaxing instead of having your mind jumping all over the place. Having an affirmation and an image of yourself as successful and happy is something else they advise.

As a psychology major, I am a huge fan of self help. I have even studied various aspects within the area of self help.

Self help hypnosis

Meditation

Support groups

Self help books, etc.

For example you can get the following forms of self help:

depression self help

anxiety self help

both self help for anxiety and depression

alcoholism self help

I have practiced both self help hypnosis and meditation. I think both ways are excellent forms of help because they aid in lowering the body's tension and mental stress. Also, psychological research reveals that self help hypnosis and meditation both have similar effects on your system.

Today, many of us live stressful lives with little time for ourselves and our loved ones. Also, the work week is steadily increasing to be well about 40 hours per week. There are various ways to cope with the stresses of life, however, I've found it helpful to take advantage of self help hypnosis and meditation. I think these are excellent ways to clear the mind and relax the body in order to refresh one's perspective on life.

For a lot of us it's hard to imagine being filled with so much anxiety that we cannot leave the house, but there are many people looking for anxiety self help books to be able to deal with this type of anxiety. There are many great anxiety self help books out there that have been proven to help or even eradicate this debilitating ailment. Most of the anxiety self help books tell people to access their subconscious for reprogramming—this assumes that the anxiety begins in the mind. Therefore, when looking for an anxiety self help book, it makes sense to look for a self help hypnosis book at the same time, because it might make the treatment a lot more successful. However, keep in mind that not all anxiety begins in the mind. Some anxiety problems are actually a symptom of physical problems, so when looking for an anxiety self help book make sure you also look for one that involves nutrition and exercise to work with the problem. Sometime our bodies are not getting all the right nutrients it needs and some funky things begin to happen—like anxiety. The best attack for an anxiety problem is a holistic approach, therefore working on your mind and health should be the best plan to eradicating this problem. Anxiety self help books can be a life changing tool, so take heart, get some books and start taking action towards your new anxiety-free life.

Self Help Hypnosis Lasts a Lifetime

<IMG style="WIDTH: 265px; HEIGHT: 249px" height=440 alt="self help hypnosis, depression self help" help hypnosis" src="http://login.wordpressors.com/Upload/www.selfhelpfaqs.com/az1.jpg" width=350> If your health insurance does not have great psychiatric benefits, you can still help yourself with conditions like anxiety or depression by turning to hypnosis. A few sessions with a professional hypnotist will give you the tools you need to practice self help hypnosis to get you through, and possibly past, your issues. Self help hypnosis treatments work surprisingly well for depression self help, if you do not want to take medications for it because you are one of those who would rather pursue natural or holistic treatments.

Hypnosis works really well for anxiety, as well. The hypnotherapist can give you audio files of your session, and when you feel anxious, you can use the media for anxiety self help wherever and whenever you need to. I have personal experience in this area, and I know that self help hypnosis is a great way to manage anxiety and depression; the tools your therapist gives you can help you manage these conditions over a lifetime, so if you want to control your depression or anxiety for the long haul, find a hypnotherapist who can help you a great deal.
